Congressional Democrats have a long history of being useful idiots for leftist causes and regimes in Latin America. Democratic Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois seems to be trying to revive the tradition for the 21st Century.

Dear friends,
I’d like to wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving, and update you on the progress of our campaign.
Things are going very well. We have secured our place on the February primary ballot, thanks to the tireless efforts of our volunteers. The number of signatures needed was 346; we turned in 1606. Our accuracy rate was an amazing 95%, and our signatories came from every neighborhood in the 9th district.
In the past week, I was humbled to receive the endorsement of the New Trier Republican Organization, the Evanston Republican Organization, and the Niles Township Republican Organization. A huge groundswell of support is emerging across the district. I have met with local residents in homes and community centers from Park Ridge to Lakeview, and everyone is excited about our chances in 2010.
Earlier this month, we re-launched the campaign website at http://www.pollakforcongress.com. It features an interactive “Talk” section where readers can leave comments and discuss issues. It also has a “Help” section that offers ways to get involved, and a “Vote” section that will assist residents in registering and making their votes count in 2010. I invite everyone to visit the website frequently and comment often!
Fundraising is going well, with contributions coming in at a steady pace. After just two months in the race, we have already out-raised the last several GOP campaigns combined. In addition to local donors, we have donors from more than a dozen states who have learned about the campaign on TV or through the Internet. We need even more help to unseat an incumbent, so please keep spreading the word.
Recently, Rep. Schakowsky has given us more reasons to vote her out. She spent much of last week in Honduras, embracing the anti-Semitic would-be dictator Manuel Zelaya and demanding his return to power. This week, she “absolutely” supported bringing terror detainees from Guantánamo Bay to Illinois, and civilian trials for the 9/11 hijackers. She also voted for the disastrous health care bill.
I want to offer the voters of the 9th district a real alternative—a representative who listens, who fights corruption in Washington, and who brings fresh ideas to the table instead of failed big-government policies.
I am building our core infrastructure so that we can roll out an organized, effective and enthusiastic campaign in the weeks ahead. Look for more updates soon!
Finally, I am deeply thankful to everyone who has helped our efforts so far, and for the good fortune this campaign has been blessed with.
